Germany is the only country in the world...where a hooker could pass away, and it'd be page one news.
This past week....Domenica Niehoff finally passed on. She was 63 and had probably been in spiraling ill health for the past five years. She'd likely readily admit she had a few drinks in her life, and probably smoked more than the average smoker.
She was the hooker of hookers in Germany. In the 1980s, she became big news when she advocated laws and changes to help hookers throughout Germany. The political figures listened to her....primarily because half of the guys knew her in a friendly sort of way.
She hadn't been in the national news for at least ten years....quietly running a guest house in the Eifel region of Germany. Most of the major news outlets gave her 30 seconds of mention this weekend...which is a fair amount by their standards. Bild even featured a section on her passing, and her contributions to Germany.
Hookers are a part of German culture. Its legal. Its taxable income. Its the high life and the low life combined. If you dare suggest to a German that it should be outlawed....they'd likely put you down instantly and correct your behavior. So for a brief moment.....we'll remember Domenica and her contributions to German culture.
