1. German inflation reported yesterday...now at 2.4-percent.
Sunday night, I ate out. I'll just say....from reviewing the menu and prices....even with a moderate Italian pasta dish, salad and a beer....you will spend almost 20 Euro.
2. Hard But Fair public tv forum show was last night on Channel 1. Topics? Is Germany headed toward a conservative government, CDU's Chancellor candidate (Merz), debate about Islam in Germany, and the continuing firewall against the AfD Party.
3. This EU election in the upcoming weekend? There is marginal talk and advertising. People are aware of it, but it's just not much in the way of 'promises' by the various parties. Last election? Around 61-percent of the registered voters came out in 2019. In that election....the CDU came to the top with 29-percent of the vote.
4. WELT piece this AM.....sales numbers on E-cars stalled. Only one out of five Germans say (from polls) that their next car will be an E-car.
It would appear that this ban on new gas/diesel car sales in 2035....likely becomes a major political topic by 2029 national election, and I would suggest it's 50-50 on the ban being reversed.
I'd say that the amount of investment into the e-technology is massive and all of the car companies will suffer if E-cars and the ban fall apart.
5. Green Party now pressing for a 15-Euro (per-hour) minimum wage. Likely to be a big topic for 2025's election.
