Photographing Things at a Restaurant

Can food displayed and delivered to your table....be copy-righted and thus get you into trouble for photographing the plate of food on social media (even a fine)?  Short answer, in Germany, YES.

If you are at a fine German restaurant with a 'star' cook, and he's copy-righted the look of his food....then legally, he can send the lawyers after you.  Just in fines, court-costs, and your lawyer cost.....you could be talking in excess of a thousand Euro very easily.

I know....it's pretty silly.

To be truthful....90-percent of all German restaurants actually like having you add pictures of their food or positive comments to their social media page.  I might even go and suggest it's closer to 99-percent of such restaurants.

However, if you are at a fine place (simply noting that nothing on the menu is less than 100 Euro per plate)....you might want to ask the waiter if you can take pictures for social media....before you take them.

Just some humble advice.
