Schulz? Comeback of the Year?

In the last day or two, there's been some comments coming out of Berlin (SPD circles), that the party would put a face to the Jun 2019 EU representative election.  They are suggesting Martin Schutz, failed SPD Chancellor candidate.

I sat and pondered upon the suggestion.  I'm guessing some within the SPD would like to ship him off and have minimal public attention on him when he attends ceremonies.  Some folks might also be looking for some figure to head up the SPD message for the spring of 2019, and he's the best choice.

The problem with this election is that you will only get sixty to seventy percent of the normal voters show up for EU election.  That's roughly half of the German population.  For the SPD, they need people to be 'thrilled' and 'hyped-up'.

But the message that Schulz brings?  The EU is your big free-gift giver.....give them a chance to give you more.  But along the way, he will try his best to avoid telling the public that already.....to make up for the British leaving....the Germans need to pay eleven-billion Euro more a year into the pot.  They won't be that thrilled.
