1. Lanz talk-show was on late last night via ZDF (public TV, Channel 2). Markus Lanz had a Green Party official as a guest, and the topic of fracking came up. It was an odd five-minute conversation....with Lanz being fairly aggressive to get actual information (facts) on the table, and the response by Felix Banaszak (Green Party) was at best....'confusing'.
To be honest, if you asked the typical German on the street....they know fracking has something to do with natural gas/oil...and that it's bad/evil and terrible for the environment, but beyond that....they know nothing.
2. How this whole Greenland-Trump discussion might turn out?
What Denmark or the EU thinks....doesn't matter. It's really up to the 50,000 Greenlanders as to what they desire. I read a piece last week describing one particular discontent that has been building up over the years.
Roughly 80-percent of society have a dislike of the Danish intellectual-class in Greenland....with this group wanting a separation of authority (to be on their own). In essence....they see themselves more of being a Greenlander, than a Dane, or EU member.
So I might suggest....this large segment of society might be sitting at the table and wanting a better deal (being more independent) and Denmark/the EU.....not interested in arranging a better deal. Trump comes along and offers something. In the end, I don't think Trump really buys or takes over Greenland....it's more that they are stage a independence situation and a vote occurs to separate from Denmark.
Lets also be honest....isolation plays a role in this entire matter. No one goes to Greenland as a tourist destination, and if you asked folks there about the influence of Europe or the EU....they'd mostly shake their heads.
3. This 'change' by Meta/Facebook....dumping thousands of 'fact-checkers'.....apparently has ARD (public TV in Germany) bothered. This vast team of employees was the protective arm of society (at least in the mind of ARD)....keeping fake-news out.
4. N-TV news had a piece on the AfD Party.....noting in terms of candidates.....it's still mostly a men's political party.
