The Homeless 500,000

I sat and watched a update on ARD (Channel 1 of public TV)....concerning half-a-million Germans....who are officially (on the books) without a home.

The deal?  There are around 440k folks  who are in some type of 'emergency' shelter situation....with a fair portion being refugees.  Around 60k are staying with either friends, or relatives....temporarily.  Then you have around 50,000 who are classified as street-people.

On the street-people number....it's a gov't estimate and personally....I doubt that it's 50,000 (guessing it's probably double that number).

Grasping at this whole discussion?  Well....the folks in 'emergency' shelter situations....are in modular structures, large depot building, and sports halls.....mostly because of their arrival status not being a planned-out event.  This type of 'fix-it' mentality has been going on since 2013, and will continue as the only solution fitting the situation.

Building pace?  Most all political  parties have some kind of plan to build more  public housing....but once you get down to the nuts-and-bolts situation required.....they lack action.

As for the homeless?  By the time you bring up mental issues, drug habits, and budget issues....no one in these major cities is that pumped up to resolve this issue.

Strictly a German problem?  If you travel around Europe.....most have a lesser problem, but they weren't magnets for migration a decade ago.
