Germany and the Coronavirus: 14 March 2020

1.  Germans infected: 3,062.  Majority are still in NRW: 936.  Number of Germans dead within Germany?  Five.  The dead Hamburg firefighter on vacation to Egypt?  He's counted against Egypt's numbers....not Germany.

2.  As of this morning (14th), Stuttgart has shut down all playhouses, kino operations and brothels within the city limits.  Yes, even the red-light district is affected.  I might expect the same guidelines to occur in Frankfurt, Hamburg, etc....over the next ten days.  The odds that the government will have to offer an 'allowance' to the hookers until the establishments are re-opened?  It would not surprise me.

3.  The two areas now considered to be of the highest risk in Europe?  Madrid and the Tyrol area of Austria.  Assessment by the RKI organization.

4.  First Coronavirus death in Luxembourg reported....94-year old guy.

5.  Air traffic from Germany into Turkey?  Now forbidden by Turks.  Affect on the vacation situation?  A major mess for 2020.

6.  Starting Tuesday, all clubs, pubs, and bars are shut-down in Berlin.  No duration given at this point.  If you need a drink....best to shop at grocery operations, and just sip out on a bench in some park (just don't share the bottle or hang out with sicky-folks).

7.  There are around a thousand food-banks for the poor in Germany.  There is a discussion going on that some closures will occur.  No one is sure about how to run a food-bank under the virus threat.

8.  Affect on gas prices?  You can occasionally see gas now at 1.28 (a liter, E10 fuel).  Some experts are suggesting that the lessen jet fuel usage is causing some pricing issues (on the positive side).  I might go and suggest that fuel will go down to the 10-cents by the end of April.

9.  RKI says that 54-percent of patients (infected) are men.  Some women would suggest it's because they don't wash their hands in the correct manner (sarcastically said of course).
