I'm not really that shocked....but it came out today....over in Rheinland Pfalz....via ARD TV (public TV, Channel One) that a couple of guys were busy selling fake masks to the public.
What the authorities say is that these were fraudulent FFP2-type masks, which weren't really FFP2. Yep, fake.
The charges? Commercial fraud.
They apparently sold them via a super-market chain operation. Total made off the scheme? That's the amusing part of the story.....1.5 million Euro (roughly 2-million dollars).
No one says what they were charging for each FFP2 type mask. Typically (at least before the crisis started up), you could buy five for 20 to 25 Euro. These are the higher standard type.
More to come? Probably. Germans were desperate in March and April.
