3 Oct 2026: Germany: 6 Stories

 1.  This France youth-riot BS?

Across most of Europe (not just France)....you find a mix of nice-kept schools, and crappy schools which needed renovation already twenty years ago.  So the kids and teachers are disgruntled enough....to trigger riots and burn some structures down.  Unhelpful?  Lot of French voters are looking toward a right-wing 'solution'.

2.  Odds of Spain calling for national election?  I'd put the figure at a 70-percent chance.

3.  Unification Day in Germany....national holiday.  As you might notice....other than politicians....almost no one celebrates the day or makes a big deal over it.

4. Interesting article in WELT this AM....in a massive chaotic event....in terms of civil defense, your survival rate depends on the town itself and Germans are on a uneven national platform....where city to city....things are different.

5. Galeria chain (like a Macey's brand) in serious financial woes.

6.  If you asked me to rate a early German federal election.....at the point where the CDU-CSU has fallen to 17-percent in polling, and the Greens pick up some SPD-voters...reaching 18-percent....it's likely time to have a national election.

Yeah, AfD would have near 30-percent in voters but be unable to form a coalition.  You'd have the Greens as a coalition-builder.....with the SPD and CDU folks as junior partners.  Disgruntled CDU voters would likely move to AfD voting patterns after this.
