Debate Over Pool Rule In Wiesbaden?

We have a general rule in the city of Wiesbaden (my local German town) about pools, women and clothing required.  If you are a woman, a 'top' is required for the public pools of the city.

No one says how far back the rule goes (wouldn't surprise me if the Romans originally wrote it).

So in the past couple of weeks, the city council has been approached with the idea of dumping this rule and allowing topless appearances of women. Swim 'free' is the phrase used.

Last week, it came up with a city council committee.....they basically passed the idea along without much of a discussion.  My general gut-feeling....either they didn't have much positive or negative to say.....or they just felt the city council would appreciate having this discussion.

Right now, the majority of the coalition is Greens, SPD, Volt, and Linke Party, with the public opinion that it'll pass at the next big meeting (17 May).

Even if they rule topless is OK.....does it really mean that women will show up and go this way?  No.  That's the amusing part of the discussion.

Personally, I would suggest that fewer than 10-percent of women who show up at public pools locally....will go topless, and most will be between the ages of 18 and 30.

Offending anyone?  I'm not sure this is a rational suggestion.  If you are a Muslim guy....it's going  to bother you a good bit.  If you are a fairly old German guy....you might actually go hang out at public pools now.....to gaze at the ladies.  Beyond that....it's just not that big of a deal.

For those who bring up the old DDR or the East German mentality?  Well....in those days.....it was fairly common for topless beaches, and even fully nude beaches....progressive-thinking meant it was fully approved.

This eventually coming to the next idea....fully nude swimming?  If I were a betting person....I'd say within five years, this trendy idea will be out there and having public discussion over the concept.
