The Christmas "Pyramid"

Germans have this odd piece of Christmas decoration....referred to, as the Christmas "Pyramid".

Basically, you pull this out of the box and put it together around the end of November.  Every Sunday until Christmas....you put candles on it, and light them up.  The heat rises, turning the windmill at the top.  Candles burn out, end of the episode for that Sunday.

There are several types....one floor, two floor, three floor, etc.

The cost factor?  Well, this is the interesting part of the story.  Thirty years ago.....you only had the Germans and Swiss who made these.  They ran around 40 to 150 D-Marks ($25 to $75) in those days.  Today, a German-made Pyramid will run at least a hundred Euro ($125) minimum.  And you could spend three hundred Euro for a good one.  The alternate?  A Chinese-made Pyramid for thirty-odd Euro.  It looks almost like the old one and probably will last a decade if you took care of it.
