Back four years ago, around Xmas time, some alcoholic-German-guy-in-a-state-of-rage....drove through Trier's shopping district and killed five folks.
Nothing about radicalism, or Jihadism, or terrorism....just some drunk German guy who'd been assessed by friends/associates as having a serious problem with reality.
Court system reacted and had him examined.
In the end, they sent him off to a mental clinic for permanent placement....but in the statement, they said he had some clear mind at the time...meaning that he had guilt.
Well....the court has come back and said....no, you can't process the case like that. They said he had a clear case of paranoid schizophrenia. So there can be no pronounced 'guilt'.
So, he will still end up in a facility, but if he were to ever improve....he'd be released in some way.
