The Bomb Story

It's one of those stories that you'd kinda expect to occur in Germany.

So, these two guys....a father and son....had an older house in the Kassel region which they'd acquired.  No one discussed much over who owned it before or the circumstances of these two, but they were busy clearing out the old house.

They get to this one object....a 120mm mortar shell.  Little is said over the comments of dad to the son, or vice-versa.  I'm guessing they likely spoke like folks from Alabama would....when finding something like this.  'You reckon this', and 'you reckon that'.

They eventually reach the stage level of what to do with it.

The simple disposal would have been to drive way out into the woods, and dig a hole, and just dump it.  Course, my advice is probably the wrong advice....but you really don't want to go dragging something like this around and getting the cops involved.

But they did the right thing.....they put it in the car, and drove to the nearest station.

German cops don't usually jump to conclusions, but in this case....it got them a bit peppy there at the entryway of the station, and they ordered the two guys to take this out into a field immediately.  The bomb guy was called and he later assured everyone that it was not dangerous.

Where it came from?  Unknown.  Journalists wanted everyone to know though.....if you find such a thing, just leave it there and call them to handle, from a distance.
