Regional Murder

Here in the Hessen area of Germany, we don't have many murders....so when one pops up, it's front-page news.

A couple of days ago, about an hour north of Frankfurt....in the Laubach region....we had a couple who faced a home-invasion episode. One gets the impression that the guy was a collector of something (maybe coins, maybe gold, etc).

The couple had six 'invaders' who tied them up, and demanded the 'prime assets'.  Somewhere in the process....the husband was beaten a good bit, and it appears that he died from the beating.  The wife slipped out of the ropes, and got out of the house.

The six robber-guys?  Well....they attempted to make their getaway in their vehicle and it apparently got stuck.  It looks like they were using some trail behind the house....in the woods.

So the robbers went to steal the couple's car.

The cops are checking out the house....doing DNA swabs, and based on info from the wife....they think the six were all Moroccans. Being this close to Frankfurt, they might be from some gang from within Frankfurt.

If the six had kept their cool and not murdered the guy....upon being caught, they'd face probably five to eight years max.  With the murder charge associated with them?  You can figure someone from the group is going to do twenty years or more.

UPDATE: As of 10AM (Friday), two Moroccan guys arrested.  What the cops say is that one guy rented a car as the escape vehicle (the one that got stuck)....so finding him was not a big deal.  The second guy....cops say less about.  Background of the two?  Some suggestion of drug traffic.  The one guy arrested is from nearby Friedrichsdorf (maybe a 10-minute drive from the house-invasion site). On the rental deal?  You have to shake your head.....a fairly stupid move.

UPDATE: As of 6AM (Saturday), it's now reported by the cops that the dead guy and the Moroccans....knew each other.  They were all apparently into some kind of drug traffic deal.  Pretty bizarre.
