Attack Story

About a dozen German news sites are carrying the four-line news item.  The head of the AfD Party in Bremen (actually a member of the Bremen state legislature and party-chairman), Frank Magnitz, was attacked last night (Monday) in the the middle of Bremen.

Based on a picture in BILD that I've seen, it's a pretty serious attack and he took a lot of punishment. What the cops say is that several (possibly three) individuals attacked him in some robbery attempt. The term 'strolche' was used.....typically meaning hoodlum, by the cops.

The problem I see with the 'robbery' suggestion is that once the 66-year old guy was on the ground, then they went to kicking him.  Robbers (even in Germany), typically don't waste a lot of time after you fall on the ground.  These three hoodlums wanted to make an impression on him.

How it stopped?  Well....some local construction guy walked into this mess, and chased the hoodlums away.  The odds that this was politically motivated?  Facts-wise, you can't say, and it's about a 99-percent chance that the hoodlums won't be caught.
