Cash Story

If you are trying to get cash out of an ATM machine in Germany today.....you might find that it's empty.  And the chief reason is that the 'fillers' of such machines....are on a one-day strike (they suggest that after lunch, they will return to 'duty'.

The chief complaint with the union?  They think a wage increase is in order.

Twenty years ago, I would have suggested that this would have been a major problem, with lots of complaints.  A lot of people are now at the point where they use their EC-card, and virtually everything with the exception of coffee shops or bakeries are a debit-card type situation.  Folks might stop once a month to pick up a hundred Euro, but Germans have reached a point where cash isn't necessary.
