Mask Scandal

 An odd piece popped up on N-TV (commercial news in Germany) today.

So, as they report it....another mask scandal has popped up.

Research was conducted by NDR, WDR and SZ, which leads to Andrea Tandler having bought a bunch of FFP-2 masks (mandated by the government)....who happens to be the daughter of CSU politician Gerold Tandler. 

Added to the hype....they also found that the daughter of Franz Josef Strauss (dead CSU politician) also did get into the purchase/resale of the masks.

Any of this against the law?  Well...no.  Ethically speaking...there might be some discussion, but since neither are standing politicians....this is mostly a 'goat-beauty' contest by NDR, WDR and SZ.

What the three news organizations miss here.....the government itself (out of Berlin) hyped the nature of masks being necessary....then required them when NO such supply existed in Germany.  So commerce-minded folks jumped into the mess....did the contacts in China, and got the masks here.  Getting rich?  Absolutely, but this is the fault of the German government.

Then as December came....they went to mandate ONLY the FFP2 masks, and we had another whole new emergency with folks rushing in to figure the way to produce the masks and get delivered.

Personally, I'd like to have NDR, WDR and SZ go out and discover how to acquire masks, get the contracts done, and manage some way to get them delivered into Germany....in a one-month period.  I don't think they are capable of doing the job, and you might be standing there in six months....wondering when they can get the job wrapped up.
