I noted this 'chatter' on RBB (Berlin's public TV network here in the morning). The city senate (SPD-Greens-Linke) carried up a vote and wrapped up a planning project for bike trails around the region of Berlin (the city).
So the final word? Over the next couple of years, 3,000 kilometers of bike trails will be laid out....all with a minimum of 2.5 meters across.
Connecting outlying villages to central train-station 'hubs'? Well....no. That was one of the complaints where some suggested it made more sense to hook people up in the 'circle' to S-Bahn stations to bring them into the city.
A big deal? Here's the thing....if you are near any major urbanized area (Bremen, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Dresden, etc)....there's probably 10-percent of society who desperately want bike transportation to be part of their 'path' into the city. These are people who live maybe up to 20km outside of the metro area, and they want a bike-autobahn to bike into work each morning.

I see the same trend here in Toronto, however this is a cold country by any means not suitable for bikes during winter of cold season, i biked during covid restrictions to get some exercise, here are my findings : even on the roads that have bike lanes the proximity to the main roads make them impracticable once a 10 cm of snow falls, why ? Because there is no plowing for the bike lanes until 2 days once the snow stopped, niw you can imagine that the snow melting and freezing back during nighttime cause a lot of humps or black ice on the bike paths, guess what the bikes are doing ? They use the main toad that is allocated for the vehicles ! Kudos to the geniuses from city hall ! What a load if horse shit their policy is, basically for 4-5 months the bike lanes are on and off so even the most staunched bikers find them impracticable, then the amateurs are just giving up before they even statt
