Ideology Topic

 Carsten Tergat wrote a fine piece for Welt this weekend....entitled 'Damn, Damn, the School is on Fire' (yeah, a catchy translated title).

I'd recommend a read if you pick up the Sunday edition at the news stand, or view N-24.  

So the catch to this column revolves to the same problem you see in the US today.  Some teachers in German society are teaching ideology.....not the regular math, science, or grammar dynamics.

You see this in the UK, the US, France, and Germany.  It's like this group of teachers got a 'dose' in their youth....went to the right universities to get a better 'dose', and got hired as teachers/instructors without a lot of supervision.  They progressed to the point where handing out ideology/propaganda wasn't a big deal.

Tergat's point (I suspect) is that German kids are getting this on a routine basis, and simply don't have the reason or intellect to distinguish facts from fakeness.  Usually, teachers are people of authority, and you don't go around questioning their intent.  Nor do you want to start up a society of teenagers who regularly question ideology or potential propaganda in the classroom on a daily basis.

I don't want to suggest that there's young revolutionaries being developed....but you can look five years into the future and generally suggest that a repeat of the 1970s is going to occur, and you might end up with 'German Autumn'.

The expression 'German Autumn'?  It was the climax (epic point) of the German Red Army Faction in 1977 where their entire ideology campaign maxed out and hit a brick wall in a matter of just weeks.  As a terror group and social change operation....they would never be at this level again.

I kinda feel that way when looking at Tergat's piece.....we are probably at some point between the beginning and mid-way point in terms of ideology change being attempted.  Some folks in the authority business are just standing there and wondering just how far this will go (like a lab experiment) and standing there as a viewer more than a leader.  Eventually, someone from 'outside' of the system will step into the lab and say 'enough'.....this business has to be corrected.

What happens to the ideology teachers?  Somewhere down the line....I suspect they will be given a 'pass' to exit the school system, and be told to just find regular non-school type work.  Some might need a rehab of some type.....to get out of the frame of mind they've had for the past ten years.  

It's interesting times we live in....that's for sure.
