24 November 2024: Four German News Stories

 1.  Focus wrote up a piece today....trying to explain to the public why the SPD decided to go with Scholz as their candidate for Chancellor in the Feb-election.

Reasons?  They suggest continuity (staying the course), experience over popularity, and that the SPD resembles a 'peace-and-prosperity' party at present.

Not sure if the public buys into this BS.

2.  Weird warming trend for Sunday across central Germany....up to 15 C (59 F).

3.  Here in Wiesbaden, at a park-house basement area.....an E-car caught on fire.  Fair amount of damage.  Second such fire for the city in 2024 (at least what they report).

4.  Warning being given....on the cost-factor of German-baked Christmas cookies.  Some people are saying it'll be up by 30-percent minimum.
