The 90-Percent Story

Generally, I hate polling stories because you can twist polls to say X or Y, without the public really grasping what you asked.

Forsa....a pretty decent polling organization in Germany....went out and asked the public about their feeling that the transition to green energies would be of reasonable cost.

Roughly 90-percent of Germans said that cheap or reasonable costs....were not achievable anymore.

How one should read this 'feeling'?  Well....from the SPD-led coalition....the brand of energy transition has been crap.  It's a message that all parties have failed upon, and the average working-class German has lost trust on this simple issue.

All of this leading back to the Ukraine-Russia 'war'?  You could make that case, but the design of German industry, and home-heating....was engineered over the past thirty years....with the Russian natural gas supply at center stage.  No one ever said 'no', and even when Trump suggested it would be an eventual problem....it was mostly laughed over.

What now?  The election in 2024 is going to be a problem for the Greens to sell their present program.  I don't anticipate they can get the same numbers as in the last election.

But resolving the crisis of cost?  I don't see this being possible now.
