Yesterday, I ended up on the south side of the Rhine....into the Pfalz (the state).
On the return episode....I was fairly close to a ferry situation (over to Winkel), and I decided for the first time since late 1990s....I take a car across on a ferry.
It was mostly all uneventful, until the guy came up for the payment.....7.50 Euro (a fair chunk of money). The last time I rode? Well....twenty-five-odd years ago....it would have been around 7 Deutsche Marks....roughly half of the 7.50 Euro.
What surprised me is that the ferry makes a fun about every 20 minutes, with at least 20 cars onboard, and at least 20 folks on bikes. It's still a fairly popular way of getting across.
