Bakery Inflation

I went this AM to my local German bakery.  I have a set amount/type of bag that I buy (for over a decade now)....for Saturday.

This bag used to be in the 5.50 Euro range (say before 2017).  Around 2018, it went to the 6 Euro range.  As Covid arrived in mid-2020.....it went to 6.75 Euro.

Around early 2022....it flipped to 7.30 Euro, and at the end of 2022....it flipped to 7.87 Euro.

This AM, the bakery chief  went to 8.22 (4.5-percent increase).  At the present pace, I expect another 4-percent rise by the end of 2023....bringing to 8.59 Euro for the bag.

I know it's nickel and dime here, but as you look at everything....from a slice of cake to a cup of coffee....they've all gone up.

I sat yesterday in the city of Wiesbaden....at a cafe, and paid around 3.50 Euro for a normal cup of coffee.  That's probably double of what I would have paid in 2017.
