For most of today, I've been viewing two curious stories.
First, public TV has this discussion going on about the director salary of ARD and SWR unit (this is SW region public TV unit). In this case....the one director makes around 30,000 Euro per month (as much as the Chancellor makes).
The guy continues to plead this case....where it sounds logical.
My gut reaction is that around the general public....no one believes the necessity of this, and it's going to finally drive a total re-organization of public TV in Germany.
Second, most of the TV media folks are talking about this art stuff that the government made a big deal about....needing to urgently return it to Nigeria. Then this past week....waking up to realize that all the art they returned....got sold off to private collectors.
In a fair amount of guilt-riddance, you see this continually where the politicians keep talking correcting past wrongs.....then screwing up and getting nothing really corrected in the end.
I would imagine over the past five years....hundreds of man-hours were wasted on guilt-tripping and rigging up the return of this art to Nigeria. At the same time, there probably was a number of hours being spent....rigging up the eventual sale of the art....to private dealers.
