Four German Stories

 1.  National polling from Focus.....AfD Party has now caught up with the Greens (AfD and Greens, 16-percent).

SPD?  Marginally ahead by one point (17-percent).

CDU/CSU?  30-percent.

FDP? 7-percent.

Linke Party?  4-percent.

2.  Kind of funny....World Cup organizers for women....were expecting a BIG payday with ARD/ZDF (public TV) offering mega-bucks.

Well....they didn't.  So the World women's conference is now talking about a black-out on women's soccer.

What's really going on?  ARD/ZDF are in a delicate situation about their public funding, so I doubt if they want to offer the big bucks being discussed.

One other odd factor....just how many people watch women's soccer in Germany?  For myself?  I might watch two games a year.....I suspect most guys will say zero.

3.  Focus has a news piece where they discuss the trend going on....a belief that Russia is preparing the public to admit the war was a failure, and has to end.  Some BS in the analysis.  I just can't see Putin standing up....admitting 100,000 dead, and a failed war.

4.  Economics Minister (Habeck, Greens) in trouble for hiring 'friends' for ministry jobs, without advertising.  Some chatter that the Transportation Minister (Wissing, FDP) may have done the same thing.
