Odd news item came up about a week ago....involving the Cambridge University folks and Jason Arday (now deceased).
The word 'autoethnographies' got used. I had to look it up.
Definition....you, the writer, ask a number of questions....which YOU yourself answer.....based off your life, experiences, woes, sorrows, etc. Yeah, it's a self-interview.
So in writing his thesis paper.....he uses his own information, his own quotes, and submits it as a paper.
Accepting this? Yeah, Cambridge fully accepted the paper
I'm not a education-wiz, but it's a bit unusual to accept the idea that PhD results out of this 'gimmick'.

All of this makes me wonder....if one-third of PhD holders are just marginal IQ (80 to 90) folks, and we've elevated them to a screwed-up status.
Apparently, a PhD today means little or nothing. I'm most skeptical today of anyone who blabbers on about there PhD. I was always bored in school and later in university. I scored a 99 on the ASVAB at 17. That is when discovered I had an IQ of 175. Who knew? Even today, at 72, I will pick up a hobby, enjoy it for a time, and move on to something else. My wife says I'm very handy at repairing an engine, fix a sink and help her with a crossword.
