These days in Germany, it doesn't take very much to freak people out.
I noticed via my HR (regional public TV) stories today.....there was a major evacuation of a ICE train (the fast inner-city type) here in Hessen.
What the cops say is that the train was stopped in Aschaffenburg and evacuated when someone noticed this petri dish with an unknown result laying there on the train.
The train folks say the train will be disinfected.....to reassure people that it's safe.
The route on this ICE train? It was going from Nuremberg via Frankfurt to Dortmund.
Just dropped by some professor or lab guy? That's generally what the cops suggest to HR. They'd like to just wrap up the story and move on. The lab guy is probably hoping the same thing.
But this demonstrates how the German public has changed over the past couple of years. It doesn't take much to scare folks.
