'Protection of the Constitution' and the AfD

What does the term "Protection of the Constitution" and the AfD Party have in common, and why is this such a big deal.

So, a brief introduction to the AfD Party.  This is the out-of-thin air party that came up around a decade ago and was mostly concerned over the Euro, and was anti-Euro.....so they were enticing Germans who wanted a return to the D-Mark.  At some point, about four years into the life of the party.....a group entered and said they wanted a second major topic....anti-immigration.  The main or head guy of the party said ''no", and he was dumped out.  The anti-migrant trend in Germany?  It's mostly fallen to this one single party because no other party wants to oppose Chancellor Merkel's direction.  On votes right now....nationally, they can probably generate around twelve to sixteen percent.  State-by-state...it varies widely....but a lot of their support is from eastern states of Germany.

So the big-name parties (SPD, CDU, Linke, Greens).....they have attempted to label and brand the AfD as a far right-wing party....well, yeah....kinda like Nazis.  (the fact that the Nazis were socialists in nature, has really been understood yet by these political folks)

These established parties in Berlin....want "Protection of the Constitution", which basically means that the cops and German 'FBI' can listen in and monitor phone calls of the political members.  Some political folks have tried discuss this matter and hint that you really don't want to open this door, because one day.....there just might be enough votes for the AfD to establish control of the government, and they would return this favor.....spying on the SPD, Greens, CDU, etc.

If you sit and ponder over this matter, knowing that this approved spying has been established....wouldn't you go and do a lot of fake chat, and suggest that various members of the opposition parties are on some 'take' or conducting criminal events?  And then the cops?  Well....you would eventually reach some position where you go to some judge and say that such-and-such Green Party guy is suggested on some criminal event (like drug dealing), and that some CDU guy is taking a bribe for some action.  The judges?  Well....if you don't react and this gets out into the public news....things get heated up real quick.

The news folks?  They are hyped up and think that spying ought to be approved, and then all the bad stuff will come out.  But what bad stuff really exists?

That's the whole argument of this episode.  Silly in some ways, but it's bound to really get messy as folks progress into it.
