Germany and Covid-19: 4 December 2020

 1.  Kind of a odd update on the Covid-19 vaccine business.  Biontec, the German company that was developing the vaccine....came out yesterday and said whatever amount was spoken about for the first initial delivery?  Well....it's going to be 50-percent of that amount.....issues with the production apparently.

Affecting the promised 1,000 vaccinations per day, per center goal?  I would imagine that somewhere around the 4th week....a massive downturn will occur with appointments, and maybe the centers actually open for a Monday through Friday routine.

Catching up on distribution?  Probably....but they admit that the quality seen in the first production wasn't up to standard, and I'd wonder if the same issue occurs with the second production batch.

2.  Some odd development at the hospital in Oschatz.....medical staff at the hotel took the Covid-19 test....half of them are infected and put on quarantine.  This group is apparently staying in the hospital, and trying to care for patients already in the hospital with Covid-19.  There simply isn't any additional manpower to handle the medical requirements.

3.  Current German death count since day one: 17,818.

4.  99-year old Croatian gal (in a retirement home) tested positive with Covid-19....although showed no symptoms.  Went through the quarantine period, then considered 'well'.  She might be the oldest person to have the virus and survive.
