What the company said over the weekend here in Germany.....is that as December ends....29,000 total members of the company (meaning worldwide) will have been let go.
The airline still has 109k employees....at least at this point.
But....here's the discussion item which came up over the weekend...10,000 more employees will be cut as 2021 comes into play. It might be in the spring....it might be in the summer (if vacations don't fall back into place).
A huge impact? In normal years....you could go and find another airline to hook up with...right now? No one is hiring.
Add onto this....the catering unit that they operated as part of the company....has been sold off as well.
If you were looking for a positive trend for the economy....this is not that great of news. Harshly affecting the Frankfurt area? Yes.
