Lot of poltiical chatter over possible curfew coming in my regional state of Hessen. So far, nothing concrete.
The Premier-President (Governor)? Bouffier, CDU? He's been direct that the numbers will drive the next ban rule change. Plus he hinted that it'll be a city by city decision, where the numbers in a certain town mandate a curfew situation. The trend in Bavaria? Curfews run 9 PM to 5 AM.
Will Germans go along with a curfew? In the over-30 age group....probably. The 15-year-old to 25-year-old group? No.
The threat of closing up shops? That's now been made and it worries the commercial folks a good bit. Christmas is the high-season, and they can't afford to be shutdown.
Are Germans even showing up for Christmas shopping? I've been out three times in the past ten days, and would suggest that the crowds are about 30-percent less than you'd typically expect for Christmas season shopping.
Last night, the wife and I went grocery shopping and the grocery operation had a 'Covid-guard' at the door....counting folks, and mandating that each person have a cart....even if a couple arrives. So the wife and I each had a cart (I felt silly). After hearing the whole explanation....I almost wanted to volunteer to the wife to go sit in the car, and just wait for her.
