So What If The Syrians And Ukrainians Return Home (Leaving Germany)?

Well....the numbers are: Syrians....around 970k to 1-million (2024 numbers....not the half-million number I spoke recently about from early 2021), and the Ukrainians are around 1.1-million (summer 2024 numbers).

This suddenly has been a hot topic....for 3 reasons: First, around 5,000 Syrians are employed in the medical field....as doctors and nurses. Second, through a study in late 2023....around 18-percent of the Ukrainian population work in Germany.  Third, most of the two-million total....took up residence in apartments (creating a mini-housing crisis over the past five years)....if they were to suddenly leave...what happens to the housing situation?

Do I believe all of the Syrians will return?  No.  If you were over age forty....there's a high probability that you will return home to  Syria.  But those in the age group of 18 to 30....I suspect most will  prefer to stick it out  in Germany.

With the Ukrainians?  It's hard to figure the rational to return....if peace were to finally arrive.  Those who sought and procured jobs in Germany....probably have a reason to stay.  Those who had lived in the eastern half of Ukraine....probably don't see the logic of returning (war-damage).

A sudden work-shortage in the future?  This is the biggest thing to discuss.

Add to the discussion....it occurring in a recession period.

In the end....I suspect half of each group will return home.
