Social Media And 3 Questions

 1.  Are Germans leaving X/Twitter?

Well....there's a piece off HR (Hessen public TV) which talks about some 'professionals' who have quit Twitter.  They can't really cite numbers....that some  people have voiced their exit.

Key factor?  They think there is extremism, and too much criticism within X/Twitter.

Here's the thing....at the middle of 2024....there were roughly 15-million German accounts on Twitter.  I'll just say that there are more on WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram (more popular in my opinion).  If ten-percent left....it'd be a big deal....but if only 1-percent left....it's not much to talk about.

2.  Is social media supposed to be a place of agreement and solidarity?

Well.....NONE of the platforms were designed for this solidarity-gimmick=or-one-voice lifestyle.

Some will say that Twitter was originally design in the beginning  to mold solidarity....mostly by lessening commentary (using artificial means).  You could accomplish this by key-words identifying forbidden topics and a system curtailing the readers.  As most people realized the code-process....it became more of a comical platform.

3.  Are people in a state of mind where they need a single-path (a bubble) to a mind-set?

We seem to talk a good bit over fragile-people these days....that if you really screw up the thought process....then some guy or gal requires a 'safe-space'  where they can collect their thoughts and try to recuperate from 'shock'.

But this ought to be a design-moment....where you sit down and answer a 5000-question quiz, and the App/platform designs itself to bring you only agreeable topics, and agreeable discussions.  If you want to believe in science in a special way, or  believe in ghosts, or believe that Catholic Church priests being 'pure' in thought, or believe that carbon is actually real pollution, or that people should read by candle-light....then you deserve a single-path option.

In the same design....if you want disagreeable topics and criticism....full-blast, then the App ought to give you that option.
