More WhatsApp Chatter

I've told the story (via a essay) of WhatsApp in Europe flipping their privacy control of your data over (supposed to take place in Feb).

Well....there's this update.  ARD public TV spoke up to this in the past 24 hours.

What they say....a delay has been put into place until mid-May by the WhatsApp management.

Why?  It appears that a number of folks found alternate sources to use....besides WhatsApp.  No one is saying that their policy will continue toward the original goal or it might change....just that it's delayed.

A lot of Germans (using various sources, I'd say it's up around 75-to-80 percent of the German population) use it.  If you did something stupid and a third of them quit?  Well....it might not be a serious issue, but you'd never get this crowd to come back.

The problem for Facebook, who owns WhatsApp?  They paid big bucks for the company, and the data created by users....has value.  They want to use it for profits.

Add in the fact that some folks are leaving Facebook....they are pushing hard to find anything that relates to profit....to use it and survive during this period.
