Germany and Covid-19: 20 Jan 2021

Over the past week, a lot of chatter has started up about various vaccination procedures/operations....which has failed in different ways.  Focus did a five-star job of putting these together and I'd strongly suggest a read of their article.

Most of the eighty and ninety year old's.....had to enlist younger relatives to dip into the vaccination reservation program.  Even with the 18-year old computer literature kids....they deemed the process 'crap'.

If you tried the alternate system.....calling the number for your state 'hot-line'....that just led to more frustrations and time being wasted.

Of the sixteen states (each running their little process)....ONLY four of them are tied into the national reservation system (Hessen, Hamburg, Saxony-Anhalt, and Baden-Wurttemberg).

Around three weeks ago...a hacker attack occurred on one of the reservation portals and just made things worse.

Brandenburg (the state/city) is the only region of Germany where you have no choice....you have to call in (no computer network).

The icing on this frustration situation?  All of the states have a 'rule'....they only make reservations if they see the vaccine in the supply chain.  If they have only two weeks of vaccine in their hands....that's all of the appointments that they will make.  The guy who gets appointment one done?  He's got dibs on the second appointment list (but there's no reason to have appointment one, if they can't see the vaccine being there for appointment two).

Presently, the process involves two shots....with three weeks inbetween.  The herd idea?  It's generally spoken that sixty-percent of Germans need to be vaccinated before they will pronounce 'herd' and then a number of ban rules get dumped (at least they say that).
