Germany and Covid-19: 13 Jan 2021

 1.  If you wanted to 'track' day-by-day vaccination numbers, by German states, go over to this site.

Presently, nation-wide as of last night....689k Germans vaccinated.

Right now, it's around 60k people per day getting the vaccination.

2.  Discussions over Oktoberfest?  Well....what is coming out of talks, the city wants to hold the fest, but it would be entry-allowed only for vaccinated people.  The numbers effect?  Unknown.

You could probably suggest that non-EU beer-drinker folks would be marginally showing up, and around most Germans....they'd suggest it's still questionable to attend such an event.  I might go and suggest that they'd barely get to 50-percent of a normal crowd but anything is better than nothing.

This leading to a quick-test solution?  Probably, but the test results are only around 85-to-90 percent reliable.  So you could have a couple who invested 1,000 Euro into a 3-day stay in Munich, and be told on day one of the visit....they came out positive on the test.  Then they'd return home to get 'real-tested'....to discover it was a false result on the test.

3.  Extreme lock-down situation ending at end of January?  Some signals out of Berlin indicate that the sixteen states WILL NOT be in agreement, and several will go to lock-down 'lite' regulations (stores probably will open.....restaurants and bars are still questionable).

The trend-line on vaccinations ought to take-off by mid-Feb (probably 50-percent higher rate), and the centers ought to be fully using the reservation system.
