While I write this collection of essays, one has to remember that I often use American-type terms or phrases. For most Brits or Americans or Aussies, it's not a big deal. For others, it might be. So this is a list of phrases I tend to use and definitions to help.
1. Loser. Basically a guy without ambitions or will-power to work. Mostly existing of the charity of the government or the spouse, or relatives. Losers exist around the globe, and your religious or political stances don't really reflect upon this status.
2. Druggie. I usually refer to a guy who is more than a part-time user, or small-time dealer....as a druggie. In this case, you can be a Texan, a Paris-resident, or some street guy in Berlin. Nationality doesn't really matter.
3. Dimwit. This is usually reserved for an individual who the majority of the time, when faced with making a decision....makes a bad decision (repeatedly). Your ethnic status or charisma does't make any difference.
I should make a note here. I lived in a village in Germany for a while which had this guy who felt practical jokes could go as far as you desired. He started loading firewood of neighbors with firecrackers (after 1 January). Explosions occurred....police were called....repeated over and over. Eventually, they figured out the guy, did a search warrant and his stash of fireworks came up. Maybe if he'd done this one single time, it wouldn't have created attention. But over and over, he went to make the same bad decision.
4. Nutcase. I used to just refer to this word on general occasions when some displayed behavior that went way beyond the norm.
Lately, I've gone to using the phrase of Paranoid Schizophrenic folks, because it is more identifiable and does explain a lot of the crazy things that people do.
5. Thug. This is a person who generally is looking for trouble, and finding it. Assault, intimidation, threats, bad-boy attention drawing the police or authorities, and destruction of property (private or public). Age doesn't really matter, but it's hard to find 50-year old thugs these days. It's also hard to find female thugs. Thugs can be any religion, ethnic group, or nationality. Thugs can often find their courage with alcohol or drugs....to get pumped-up.
6. Gang. It's hard to find a 'do-good' gang which goes out to clean up parks, clean up graffiti, or help in disasters. Gangs usually refer to criminal intent, or bad-boy behavior. Gangs aren't typically political in nature. Also, it's hard to find a female gang....but it seems to be pretty easy to find a young male gang.
7. Hooligans. Generally, soccer fans who are members of clubs....who seem to find alcohol-courage, and enjoy roughing up non-friends.
8. Desperado. Some guy who has done a fair amount of trouble, then reached some new reality where he'd like to just disappear for a while. He's not exactly cleaning up his act.
9. Biazou. It's a new word that I will throw around....Chinese in nature. It simply means you might be trying to demonstrate to me how smart you are, or how your emotions/attitude may be 'pure', or that your intellectual strength is great. The Chinese simply note that such an individual is a hypocrite in nature. Yeah, it's supposed to be a negative when the Chinese guy folds his arms and says this to your face. It's not used much in Germany (at least not yet). I might occasionally use on another essay site.
10. Gal. Generally, I mean a lady, over the age of 16.
11. Juvenile. Generally, anyone who acts like a kid, even if they are wearing adult clothing, having attended university and are explaining they are 40 years old. Again, this can be literally anyone, any nationality, any age group, etc.
12. Ultra-rich. I used to categorize this as someone who had over 100-million. Lately, it has to be billionaire status.
13. Working class. A guy or gal who has a job, pays taxes, owns a car, owns a house, and prefers as little government necessity to involve themselves in the lifestyle or landscape of the guy. Ethnic status or skin-color doesn't really matter.
14. Cults or cult-like. I used to reserve this to only religious groups. I've expanded it out to various other areas now.
