Among all the hyped-up political chatter of the Bundestag yesterday....they got around to something that some folks weren't expecting....tobacco advertising.
ARD (public TV, Channel One) did a good job of detailing this.
So first, if you make a movie for German audiences....for anyone under 18 (the release age deal), then NO tobacco advertising is to be contained in the movie.
Second, 2022....no advertising of tobacco on billboards or backstops.
Third, e-smokes can't be openly advertised (in the landscape) in 2024.
Finalized? No, it just goes to the Federal Council next, and the odds are heavily in the favor of this passing....as is.
A big deal for the tobacco companies? Well, if you walk around any urban area for an hour or two....you will come across a minimum of ten large advertisements. E-cigarette advertising is obvious as well. I won't suggest that the advertisements made any difference.
As for the movie thing? I doubt if it's much of a problem, and no one will notice.
