Germany and Covid-19: 2 March 2021

 1.  At some point in April (probably the last week)....the German Health Minister (Spahn) is talking about regular doctors getting the Covid-19 vaccine, and being able to vaccinate people on their own.

2.  Austria came out, in cooperation with Israel and Denmark....with a vaccine 'alliance'.  Basically, they said that the folks at the EU (EMA) who handle the whole vaccine business are not up to the job, and they are going down a different path in the future.

Just a gut feeling, but I suspect at least three other European countries will join up on this deal.  Really slams the EMA folks in a harsh way.

3.  This hyped-up idea of getting Chancellor Merkel on live TV, to receive her vaccination?  Based on a Focus piece, I'd say that idea is pretty much finished off, and will not occur.  They didn't really say it was a privacy thing or just a stupid PR deal....but she has concluded it's just not going to happen.

Just play out the scenario....if she did get the 'jab' and fainted?  That would probably finish off the positive side of the vaccination business real quick.

4.  4.9-percent of the German population have been 'jabbed' on the first vaccination....with 2.5-percent having completed the second.

5.  Total death count since day one, 70,020.

6.  Still some discussion going on with 'free' Covid-19 tests at regional centers or pharmacy operations.  Who would bare the burden?  Federal government would have to sponsor this, and there is some price tag at the end of the discussion.  I would give it a 50-50 chance at this point.  My humble guess is that there would be some limit of five per month.
