It's not a national holiday or anything in Germany, but some Germans are referring to today (16 March) as 'Lock-Down-Day'. It's the one-year anniversary of the first lock-down ban-rules.
I kinda laughed last night when this was brought up.
I asked my German wife if there should be any celebrating, or beer-drinking over this special occasion....but this got the 'don't bring up this topic' look from her. On ban-rule enthusiasm, she's at maximum capacity.
Generally, I'd say that after a full year of this ban-rule business....with constant tinkering and changes....folks have had their fill. If you are under the age of twenty-five....the odds are that you've violated five or six ban-rules....at least two dozen times over the past year. Some folks are probably up around a thousand violations since day one of the lock-down.
Will the 16th turn into some kind of holiday eventually? I doubt it. Maybe as a cult-day, or special theme....maybe it might amount to something five years down the line.
