If you follow various German news stories over Covid-19 in the past three months....one of the bigger discussion items is the idea of a 'reward-system' for those getting the Covid-19 vaccination.
Some political folks are very careful over how they discuss the matter....feeling that society might not take the suggestion in a friendly manner. Some virus experts (the medical folks)...don't see how you avoid this.
The general angle to this concept? You'd start with international travel mandating this....so you couldn't board a plane in Frankfurt or Munich, without showing a vaccination digital slip.
The slip? There's already chatter that a database will exist shortly (probably by May) and be run by the government or the EU.
The potential that you might be required to show the digital slip to attend a movie, or a concert, or soccer game? Those subjects are already openly discussed now.
The potential for fake vaccination slips to exist? That's also been brought up and it's very likely that those anti-vaccination folks will find the various ways to have a fake digital slip entered into the legit database.
The idea that a vaccination will prevent you entirely from getting Covid-19 ever again? The word 'possible' is uttered a fair bit over this topic. No one will sign anything to suggest you are guaranteed a Covid-19-free life after the vaccination.
The possibility that the September national election will drag this topic to the discussion stage, and be a top ten issue for the parties to jump into? It's somewhat likely.
Here's the thing...you just don't know how many people will go and vaccinated...voluntarily. It might be 95-percent of Germans. It might be 80-percent of society. It might be only 60-percent of the German population.
If you launched into a reward-system, and only sixty-percent of folks got the vaccination....the reward-system would be doomed in terms of effective use. Politically, it could be charging up people and motivate them to go against the vaccination.
So when you see this discussion going on....there are various angles to it, and it's likely to be dividing society....not unifying the landscape.
