It's a page one type story around Berlin but no one is sure about the facts. Focus did a decent discussion over this topic: refugee housing.
For a couple of months, around Berlin, there's been these quick-put-up structures (concrete) which have been tossed up around Berlin....on city-owned property.
What is generally said....there aren't any speeches or grand-openings...it's just wrapped up and refugees move in. The number? Some folks started counting, and over the entire city....there's so far about fifty of these structures.
If you go and ask the city management or the senators who run the city....it's not a secret, but they really don't want to discuss the matter.
Cost factor? Well, that's a curious thing too.....no one seems to know what the program involves. Using some 2018 data, where the city leaders talked about these 'MUF' structures....the suggestion is that the total program runs around 768-million Euro...but it's merely a suggestion, not a final number. The individual costs at each location? Again, it's an estimate of around 17-million Euro.
The corruption factor? About a month ago, I saw a picture of one of these units...pure concrete cheaply-built structure....maybe 40 apartments at this one MUF structure. Telling me that this unit had a cost factor of 17-million Euro? I'd suggest that someone is getting soaked on the bill business. It reminded me of the East Germany quick-put-up buildings from the 1970s that had a life-span of twenty-odd years.
An investigation coming out of this? Maybe, but the current city government is a group of SPD, Linke Party and Greens. It'd have to be some federal investigation, if you ask me.
