The TV folks at RTL went and did a political poll.
They asked people who voted in the 2017 election, and voted for the CDU or CSU then.....if Armin Laschet were running as Chancellor.....the odds of you voting for him. The pro-CDU/CSU voters? Only 32-percent....which is a pretty harsh message.
If the candidate were Söder, it ONLY improves to 73 percent.
The odds now that the Greens will win the election? I'd say it's getting to what people would have said was impossible in the 1990s. There's going to be a Green Party Chancellor, and some type of Green Party-led coalition.
As much as some suggest having Merkel run in 2017 was a wise idea....it was probably a moment where new and fresh leadership should have been introduced.
