Last night, via ARD (German public TV, Channel One)....they devoted several minutes to talk about Russian troop movement, Russian commentary, and laying out a map of Ukraine to orientate Germans.
The suggestion of 'war'? Basically, a force of a fairly small size (just based on their video) was the idea put forward. The Ukrainian military claims 28 tactical 'groups' are being deployed from Russia? Truth to this or not? Unknown.
The Russian Army of 1984...no longer exists. There was a massive downsizing over the past thirty years. So what you have to measure against is some big 'unknown'....the Russian Army of 2021.
All of this dragging NATO into some mess? It would appear so.
Handling of this via President Joe Biden? Well....I'm guessing he has forty-odd people wanting to advise him, and his actions will reflect who he trusts the most. I know it doesn't sound great, but this is the path that was laid out from the election.
If some stupid mini-war started up....the effects? You have to wonder if natural gas from Russia to Germany still continues. We are in the midst of spring and maybe a brief halt wouldn't matter.
So, my advice...pull out a Ukraine map and orientate yourself on regions....prepare for a 90-day mini-war, add in the effect of Covid upon both sides, and start asking yourself....what is really of value to drag both Russians and NATO into the mess?
