Five Observations Over German News

 1.  A small number of journalists are discussing the Defense Minister (Lambrecht) resigning, and how the SPD Party should not fool themselves into automatically having to fill the position with a woman.

It's a funny discussion but part of the SPD strategy built around jobs being 50-percent male, 50-percent female.

2.  Greta Thunberg gave a speech yesterday in Germany, and announced that Germany was one of the biggest climate 'sinners' in the world.

I'm sure Germans wept over the announcement.

Based on all of the mandates and enforced regulations....it's just very few Germans that might buy into her logic on this.

3.  There's a great piece to read off WELT this AM by Harold Martensein....basically saying that a large segment of migrant population in Germany arrived with few (if any) qualifications for jobs, and find themselves disillusioned about what Germany can offer them.

If you arrive in Germany, with what is a basic marginal education...don't speak the language, or have no marketable skill....what exactly do you expect over the next five years?  It's not rocket science to see how things have progressed in urbanized Germany.

4.  Locally, in the Frankfurt region, folks are hyped up....NFL game scheduled for November timeframe.

5.  Bankruptcy set for regional retirement home in Hessen....primarily over the heating costs.  At least a hundred folks will be kicked out.  Some chatter that this will be a trend.
