Around two weeks ago, I noticed a missing German girl report in the news....out of Freudenberg (NW Germany). 12 years old....cops spent a day or two looking for her....then found the body. Stab wounds.
So yesterday, cops announced that they'd gone to the last two kids to see her. 12-year old girl and a 13-year old girl. Both had stories that changed a bit each time they interviewed. In the end, they admitted they'd stabbed their friend.
Some kind of revenge angle to this...at least that's how they explain this. Even the officials at the press conference had trouble telling this entire story. Just some wicked stuff that you don't typically see in Germany.
Problem now? If the girls had been 14 or older....they'd at least go off to a youth-type of jail....up to age 20, then get released. Being under 14....officials are pretty limited. There's no youth jail for this age group. Most that can occur is a rehab type center for violent youth offenders....in their age group. Some suggestion that they'd get returned to their parents in a year.
I looked at the consequence business....if this were my neighborhood....I wouldn't want either kid walking around in the free and open.
Just an odd story.
