We have an odd situation developing in my region (around Wiesbaden) in the area of Hünstetten (Rheingau-Taunus). I'd describe the area (north of Wiesbaden) as being hilly and fairy well developed (10,000 in population).
They've had a discussion going on....to allow wind-generators into the region. Its safe to say....two groups have come out on opposing views about allowing wind-generators into the valley.
Today, there's a vote on this topic.
Politically....the CDU folks, the Green Party, and the SPD Party....are in favor of bringing the wind-generators in.
The anti-folks? Mostly AfD related or wanting to preserve the look/feel of the landscape.
What this is all about in the end? Mostly about allowing six wind-generators to be erected.
Oddly, the area where they are talking about erecting them....is a beetle-infested area, and the trees would have to be cut...either way.
The town getting money off tax generated from the wind-generators? Well....they hint that one-million Euro would fall into the town's pot. Whether true or not....hard to say.
Some suggest that this is a open-and-shut win....others aren't that sure about the vote and suggest it'll be closer to 50-50.
A lot of the negative feelings revolving about the health aspects (vibrations, wave, etc)? Well....yeah. No one really wants a wind-generator within kilometer of their house, and most would suggest three or four kilometers as a minimum. If you go looking for the vibration chatter....it's often bought up, but there's simply not been any PhD-level study to say it's a real thing or just perceived.
I would agree....for some reason....animals are a bit 'spooked' over wind-generators erected. Yes, birds to run into the blades for some odd reason. Cats seem to stare at them.
My question? Will people even show up to vote for this? It wouldn't shock me if seven out of ten registered voters in the community just skipped the vote entirely, with less than 1,500 having a say out of a community of 10,000.
UPDATE: Vote complete. Wind-generators approved with 76-percent of local voters.
