Spiegel (the magazine) finally went and interviewed the harbor-master in Rügen over this yacht rented out for the destruction of the Nord Sea pipeline.
He says....as they arrived....they were dressed like regular sailor folks. Then he remarked that they had shopping bags of food/beverages.
Language used? Well....it wasn't German. Then he makes this odd statement.....he thought they were Polish or Czech.
The Ukraine-story told by the New York Times? It works up to a certain point, and just sounds more like a movie-script.
For reference....gunpowder residue would remain on skin for about 8 hours. Wood surface? It could be there for several years, unless it was cleaned appropriately. If these were professional guys? They would have laid down a plastic sheet on the table and thrown it away upon leaving the vessel.
Digging deeper into a bogus story? No one has yet to explain how they paid for the rental yacht.

Note: I am convinced that the yacht was rented, and a couple of non-Germans entered the vessel for a period of time. Beyond that...I'm not convinced of anything. The German fed police are onto this, but they've got a limit.
These folks having spent a night or two in the local Rugen area, prior to the adventure? Well...you would draw a 50 km circle and just start looking at hotels in the region.
But this just gets into a crazy path, and leads you into circles.
