Explaining 'Ghost Stream'

I had to look this up today.

When you own a group of German wind-generators....producing power.....there are days out of the year, when there is TOO MUCH wind, and the grid can't handle it.

So the grid operators come to you (at a moment's notice) and tell you to cut the wind generator off.

The grid management folks then has to compensate the wind generator owners....for 'lost' power.  Both you and I would agree....it's not really 'lost', but there's no place to store the power, and the grid can't do anything with the excess.

So part of what you pay right now for your electrical bill....is for 'ghost stream'.

Back in 2021....it amounted to around 800-million Euro.  Today?  It's probably over the one-billion Euro point.

Fixing this?  Well....unless you can store it....there's not much of a fix.

But here's the curious thing....the gov't wants more and more of the wind generators built.  So in theory.....you might wake up in ten years.....to find more three billion Euro in extra cost on society....because there's too much wind at the wrong time, and no way to save/store it.

Kina funny, if you think about it.
