Three German News Stories

 1.  You might hear Upahl (town in north Germany, in the state of Mecklenburg) brought up a good bit now.

They've been 'tasked' by the state to accept 400 refugees.  A temp-center will be put up.

The problem here....the total population of the village is 500.

Even the mayor is saying that this won't work, and there's a lot of hype (negative) going on with how this decision was decided.

2.  Court case brewing in Frankfurt against five of the Last Generation activists....on charges relating to blockage of the traffic around Frankfurt's airport.  Their hype?  It had to do with the A49 autobahn construction and the forest area which had to be cut down to allow construction to start.

So, what occurred last week...opening of the court episode, and then the problems that fell into place.

There were so many lawyers for the five, that the hall that was scheduled to be used....was not going to work.  So they had to move the court case to another bigger hall.

Then the court got a lecture from one of the five....about pronouns (gender-friendly chatter only).

Then one of the five uttered in the opening remarks: "Courts are disgusting, disgusting, inhumane shit machines that destroy lives every day. I deeply despise your shit club and this shit system. I would just go now if nothing speaks against it.”

What happens now?  The general feeling is that it'll end by next Friday....with five convictions.  A fine is most likely, with some stern warning from the judge that these actions were not civil in nature.  Jail-time?  I'm guessing they might assign six months of jail, but then give probation....with some stipulation that if they repeat anything over the rest of 2023....the probation is dumped, and they go to jail.

3.  Personnel shortages....for German prisons?  N-TV had a update report....saying that applications for jobs in prisons are now a problem.
